General Questions

The Questions We Hear Most

Everything homeowners ask before they pick up the phone.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Nampa and serve homeowners across the Treasure Valley, including Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Eagle, Star, Kuna, Caldwell, Garden City, Hidden Springs, and the Boise Foothills. We also reach farther out to Mountain Home and up to Ketchum and Sun Valley. If you're not sure whether you're in our range, just reach out. The answer is usually yes.

Do you offer free estimates and inspections?

Yes, always. Every estimate and inspection we do is free, with no obligation. We'd rather come out, get up close to your gutters, soffit, and fascia, and give you an honest assessment than have you guess at what your home needs.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We're licensed, insured, and bondable, operating under Idaho contractor license #5371187. You're fully covered when you work with us.

Do you offer a warranty or guarantee on your work?

Yes. Every installation we complete is backed by a two-year workmanship warranty: if something isn't right with our work, we'll make it right. On top of that, the materials we install carry their own manufacturer warranties, typically 20 to 40 years depending on the product. We'll walk you through exactly what applies to your specific installation, and the full warranty terms are spelled out in your paperwork.

What makes Fort Comfort different from other gutter companies?

A few things, and they're the things that actually matter. First, our quality is ridiculously good, and our bar is set higher than most homeowners would even think to ask for. Second, we're in this for the long haul. Gutters as a trade is full of fly-by-night crews, and that simply isn't us. Third, we genuinely know trades, because our crews bring over 15 years of gutter experience and we understand that the customer is the whole point. And yes, we answer the phone, which sounds basic until you've tried reaching the other guys.

What happens after I reach out?

You reach out, we schedule a free inspection at a time that works for you, and one of our experts gets up close to assess what your home actually needs. From there you get an honest recommendation with clear options and pricing. No pressure, no surprises, no guesswork.

How long have you been in business, and are you local?

We're locally founded and operated, launched in 2025 right here in the Treasure Valley. While the company is young, the people behind it are not new to this work. Our crews bring over 15 years of hands-on gutter experience, so you get the energy and attentiveness of a local business with the know-how of people who have been doing this for a long time.

Do you work with insurance claims?

We can help. In Idaho, gutters are often handled as their own scope rather than rolled into a roofing company's work, which means you don't have to wait on a roofer to deal with your gutters. If you've got storm damage and aren't sure how your gutters fit into a claim, reach out and we'll help you understand the gutter side and point you in the right direction.

Why does water pool near my foundation even though I have gutters?

This is one of the most common issues we see, and it almost always comes down to where the downspout ends. If your downspout dumps water right at the base of your home, your gutters are doing their job moving water off the roof, but then handing it straight back to the foundation. The fix is usually extending the downspout, re-routing it, or adding a French drain that routes water far enough out that it can't work its way back toward the structure. It's often a simpler and more affordable fix than homeowners expect.

Can poor drainage really damage my foundation?

Yes, and it's one of the most expensive problems water can cause, which is exactly why it's worth getting right. Water pooling against your foundation doesn't just sit there. Over time it can seep in, crack the foundation as soil swells and shrinks through freeze-thaw, flood a basement or crawlspace, and create structural damage that costs many times what a drainage fix would have. If you have a crawlspace, one quick way to check for a drainage problem is to poke your head in with a flashlight. If you see white streaks on the interior, you may have a moisture problem. Those streaks are mineral salts left behind when moisture evaporates out of the concrete, which means water was getting into it. Gutters get the water off your roof; drainage makes sure it doesn't end up doing damage at the bottom.
